Team Total: A few farewells :(

We sadly said goodbye to Mark Corry end of November 2024 after 2 years in our team. Mark is doing some travelling around Australia before making long term plans & we wish him all the best on his adventure!

We now have another farewell as Roisín Whitford is finishing working in the team this Friday 9th January to explore a new role in the Medical Technology world. Roisín leaves a great legacy at Total Physio and Thrive Gym, with many of our clients benefiting greatly from working with her. During her time as a Senior Physiotherapist and transitioning to Business Development Manager, Roisín has developed and implemented our Osteoblast program with amazing results, has been instrumental in improving our business operations and systems and has been a great mentor to our Physiotherapists. She will be missed and we wish her every success in this new opportunity! We thank Roisín for all the hard work, dedication, and care she brought to her role for the past 3.5 years.

New Team Member Alert: Welcome Ben Howie!

We want to wish a warm welcome to Ben Howie who has started working with us in clinic and Thrive gym as an APA Physiotherapist.

Ben has valuable hands-on experience of musculoskeletal physiotherapy within both the NHS (Scotland) and physio private practice clinics. Ben is passionate about physiotherapy, and confident in providing evidence based assessments and treatments for a broad range of conditions. Ben is committed to providing high-quality professional and empathetic care through tailored rehabilitation plans. He is skilled in sports massage & sports taping and is a qualified level 2 Gym instructor.

Ben has availability from 15th January 2026.

The Myth of Growth Plate Damage

One of the most persistent myths is that weight lifting can damage growth plates and stunt growth. However, evidence shows that properly supervised resistance training does not negatively affect growth or development. In fact, when done correctly, it can enhance bone density, muscular strength, and overall physical health

There are many physical and psychological benefits to strength training and starting this early in life is a great way to establish positive benefits early, which can be carried through to adulthood.
