May Updates at Thrive
Supporting Wellness & Longevity
As my journey as a Physiotherapist and Healthcare business owner evolves, it continues to become increasingly clear that our value to the community is not just the management of injuries and health conditions. Just as important, and potentially more impactful, is our role in the prevention of injury and disease and improving human performance. We are living longer than ever but our lives are becoming more sedentary. It has never been more important for us to fuel our bodies with exercise, nutritous foods and mental stimulation so that we have the quality of life we desire as we live longer. Thrive gym is the vehicle to help our community fuel their bodies and the evidence supports what we are doing:
A variety of classes results in the best health benefits. Aim to participate in a range of classes to vary the stimulus to your body.
Exercise needs to be appropriately challenging to ensure adaptation. Our team ensure that you are training at the required level for positive adaptation.
Resistance/weight training continues to show a protective effect against many common conditions of ageing, such as Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Falls risk.
Physical Activity reduces the risk of Dementia and Alzheimers disease as we age.
A supportive community and social network has been shown to be an important factor for healthy ageing.
Over the coming months you can expect some improvements to our Thrive operations. This includes:
Optimising our class schedule to help you access a variety of classes at times that suit you - this will be complete by the start of August.
Improving the layout of the gym to increase space and improve utilisation.
Introducing new equipment to provide new stimulus and challenges to your training.
We have recently updated our Strength, Prime Movers and Osteoblast Assessments so we can give you a better understanding of your Physical profile and areas for improvement. This will help us track your progress over time and advise you on the most suitable training regimes.
I recommend completing an assessment every 12 months to keep on track of your progress and identify areas for improvement. If you are working on improving something specific, you may benefit from 3-6 monthly assessments and our Physios can guide you on this.
If you would like to book in for an Assessment, use the Booking button below to book a time with any of our Physios - select an ‘Initial Appointment’ and in the booking notes let us know it is for a ‘Thrive Assessment’.
Strength Assessments can also be booked with Aideen. Contact Aideen or our reception directly to organise an Assessment with Aideen.
I will be looking to add Exercise Physiology and Nutrition services over time to support our members to further optimise their health.
